Turbush Wins Truck Series Opener at the Waterford Speedbowl
Chris Turbush of Riverhead New York took the lead after an accident on lap eleven and never looked back to win the New England Truck Series season open at BlastOff 2013 at the Waterford Speedbowl.
Ten trucks would line up for the start of the feature event on Saturday night. Defending series champion Duane Noll started on the pole in truck #2 with Tom Metcalf alongside in truck #8x. As the green flag waived, Noll would take the lead with Metcalf second and C. Turbush third in truck #8.
The front of the field would stay pretty much single file till lap 8 when Dan Butler in truck #27 and Keith Chapman in truck #22 would come together in the backstretch along with Glen Noll in truck #72 bringing out the first caution of the event.

On the restart, Noll would once again jump back out front but would quickly feel the pressure from the #88 of Roger Turbush as the field headed for turn #3. As the two entered turn, contact was made sending both trucks spinning up the track and into the turn three wall. With the remainder of the field on the brakes, Metcalf and Chapman would also be involved and would drive away with only minor damage. Noll would receive the most damage and be out of the event at this point giving him his first DNF in two seasons.
This would shake up the field on the restart as C. Turbush would inherit the top spot with Brad Caddick moving into the second spot with truck #44 and Tony Lafo making his way from the back of the pack to third in truck 151. As the green waived again, C. Turbush would take the lead with Caddick second and Lafo third. As the laps wound down, the battle would heat up for position #3 between Lafo and Metcalf, who was making his way back through the pack. The two would battle side by side for two laps before Metcalf would take the spot away. The field would stay this way for the remaining few laps and as the checkered flag waived it would be C. Turbush taking down the win followed by Caddick in second with Metcalf third followed by Lafo and R. Turbush who came back from the accident to round out the top five.
The series has three weeks off to recuperate and get the trucks ready for the next event that will be held on April 27th at the Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford Connecticut.
