PRACTICE: Brunnhoelzl Quick At Caraway
Fastest Across Two Saturday Afternoon Practice Sessions
ASHEBORO, N.C. – George Brunnhoelzl III has his sights set on history at Caraway Speedway as he led practice for tonight’s NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Spring Fling 150.
Brunnhoelzl, from West Babylon, N.Y., recorded the fastest lap across two practice sessions Saturday afternoon. In the first 25-minute session he posted a quick circuit of 15.952 seconds (102.683 mph) that would stand as the fastest on the day. He ranked sixth on the final practice board at 16.144 (101.462).
With eight career victories at the .455-mile oval, Brunnhoelzl is tied with Brian Loftin for the Whelen Southern Modified Tour track wins record. A ninth triumph would put him all alone atop the list at the track where he’s found himself in Victory Lane in four of his previous seven appearances.
A two-time winner at Caraway, Tim Brown led all competitors in the 20-minute final practice with a fast lap of 15.966 (102.593). He ranked third in first practice.
Following Brunnhoelz on the speed chart in first practice was Andy Seuss, Brown, Kyle Ebersole and Jason Myers. After Brown in final practice were Ebersole, Danny Bohn, Loftin and Burt Myers.
Qualifying for the Spring Fling 150 is set for 5:45 p.m., with the race slated to go green at 8 p.m.
