Canaan Fair Speedway Up Next for Granite State Pro Stock Series
With the season opener for the 2013 season firmly behind, the Granite State Pro Stock Series heads north on Saturday, May 4th, back to the Granite State for their first appearance of the season at the Canaan Fair Speedway. This will be the second appearance at the Mid NH speed plant for the series
While 23 cars were on hand at Thompson, and many of them have noted their intention on being a part of this Canaan 100, there are still several drivers that will be making their season debut on May 4th. Fran “Jr” Colson will be making his seasonal debut, after waiting for his power plant to arrive, forcing him to miss the season opener.
Scott “Zig” Geno has recovered from his recent off season surgery, and is ready to rock his home track once again. Babe Branscombe, Zach Jewett, Jimmy Renfrew, John-Michael Shenette and possibly a few others will be ready to tackle the 1/3 mile oval. They will go head to head with reigning Canaan Fair Pro Stock Champion Jeremy Davis, and other GSPSS standouts such as the Icebreaker runner-up Mike O’Sullivan, Jake Vanada, Barry Gray, Mike Parks and Josh King, all who had top ten finishes at Thompson.
Louie Mechalidas is ready to redeem himself, after blowing an engine while dominating the season opener, and has vowed to be a force to be reckoned with at CFS. Will they be battling last years Canaan Fair 100 winner Donnie Lashua? No word yet if he will be on hand to defend his victory.
Also on hand on May 4th, will be the season opening event for the Pro4 Modifieds. Rob Richardi Jr will kick off the defense of his first ever title at the quick 1/3 mile, hoping to start off with a trip to Victory Lane. With over 25 cars that competed last year with the Pro4 Mods, Rob will have his hands full. Topping the list of contenders is his brother Dave, who finished second in the championship chase last season. Phil Lausier is ready to push aside the brothers and take over the title chase. Dan Meservey Sr is still competing strong after 40 years of competing with the Pro4s, and should be on hand, as will Robin Berghman, who has one career Pro4 victory.
The Vintage Modifieds will be making their season debut as well. The Vintage Modifieds are a group of nostalgic modified owners who want to go out and compete, showcasing the cars of yesteryear. These Pinto’s, Coupe’s and other cars from yesteryear will compete in a 25 lap race, giving the fans a chance to enjoy some great nostalgia.
The 4 cylinder Bandits will round out the card for this show at the fast 1/3 mile. These are the same cars that compete as Wildcats at Twin State Speedway and the Lightning Stocks at Monadnock Speedway.
They too will compete in a 25 lap main.
The pit gates open at 1, with qualifying starting at 6pm. Join us for the 2013 season opener at Canaan Fair Speedway on Saturday, May 4th.
