Seekonk Set to Host Valenti Modified Racing Series Saturday
Canaan, NH — With only one qualifying heat race contested over two weeks ago, and rain forcing cancellation of that program at Thompson (CT) Speedway, Valenti Modified Racing Series drivers are eager to race this weekend at the famed Seekonk (MA) Speedway, the next stop on the 10th Anniversary tour.
The series last completed race was run April 20.
This Saturday’s race program will feature a 100-lap green flag event for the open-wheel modifieds.
The series top five point men are slated to compete.
Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Valley, PA, has a 10-point lead over Louie Mechalides, of Tyngsboro, MA, heading to Seekonk. Pennink has a victory at Seekonk while Mechalides is a two-time winner.
Tied for third in the standings is Steven Masse, of Bellingham. MA, and Mike Holdridge, of Madison, CT. Masse is still seeking that first “Cement Palace” win while Holdridge has a 2011 victory to his credit.
Tommy Barrett Jr, of Millis, MA, is fifth only six points behind
Local driver Todd Annarummo, of Swansea, MA, will enter the June 8 event.
Rookie Dylan Kopec, of Palmer, MA, is an expected entry as is two-time champion Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT.
VMRS practice starts at 3:30 PM with qualifying races at 6:00 PM.
