Thunder Road Prepares for Twilight Event
BARRE, VT — The Nation’s Site of Excitement, Barre’s Thunder Road, will begin weekly summer racing with the first of two twilight events this Sunday, June 9th presented by WLVB Radio.
The event will feature the top-flight Late Model division, Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen, Allen Lumber Street Stocks, and a special visit from the historic New England Antique Racers.
Rookie Derrick O’Donnell will lead the Late Models into battle on Sunday after his dominating opening day win in the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic. O’Donnell will try to hold off defending King of the Road Nick Sweet, and Shelburne, VT’s Trampas Demers to keep the top spot.
In the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman division, two-time Champion Shawn Fleury has taken over the points lead after two top ten showings in the first pair of events. Milton, VT’s Eric Badore rides second, and 2012 Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman Rookie of the Year Jason Woodard is just behind him in third. “Double O” Joe Steffen and Josh Demers round out the top five. Only 20 points separate the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen top ten.
In the Allen Lumber Street Stocks, it’s 2012 Rookie of the Year Dean Switser, Jr. at the top of the standings, on the wings of two podium finishes, followed by Tommy “Thunder” Smith and Jamie Davis.
The WLVB Radio twilight event at Thunder Road will roll off this Sunday, June 9 with a post time of 4PM.
