Three “Twins” on Tap for this Thursday at Thompson

THOMPSON, CT — Three of Thompson Speedway’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions will face double features this coming Thursday night. It will be a race fan’s dream come true with a total of eight feature events making for an incredible night of high-speed competition. This amazing lineup is the result of the scheduled twin 30-lap features for the Sunoco Modifieds and the completion of last week’s program when the Lite Modified and the Xtra Mart Limited Sportsman features fell victim to Mother Nature.

The night of racing, sponsored by Whelen Engineering, will kick off with qualifying races for the Late Model and Monster Mini Stocks at 6 PM. Once those two divisions have run their qualifying races, it will be time to roll out the first of the eight big main events.

Current NASCAR and Thompson point leader, Keith Rocco will lead a field of some of the best open-wheel Modified drivers to the start of their regularly scheduled twin 30-lap main events. He will be joined by drivers like Woody Pitkat who, along with Ryan Preece, waged a torrid battle for the win of last week’s main event. Rocco won that race, but will have his hands full again from Pitkat, Preece, Kerry Malone, Dennis Perry and many more. If last week’s race was any indication of what is in store for the “twins” then fans are in for a real treat.

Since the Late Models and the Monster Mini Stocks did get their feature races in last week, those divisions will compete in their regular distance events. However, the Lite Modifieds and Xtra Mart Limited Sportsman will be doing double duty as each will face a two-race night of action.

The grandstands will open at 4 PM and racing will start at 6 PM. The exact schedule of events will be posted on the Thompson web page. www.thompsonspeedway.com. Information on the event will also be found on Facebook and Twitter.
