Ted Christopher Seeking First Stafford Win of 2013 in VMRS 80

Stafford Springs, CT — Ted Christopher is winningest driver in Stafford history with 118 career feature wins. But through 5 SK Modified® races and 2 Whelen Modified Tour races at Stafford this season he has yet to reach CARQUEST Victory Lane. Christopher will have two more opportunities to get back to victory lane this Friday with his #13 SK Modified® car and the #00 Joe Brady car that he will pilot in the VMRS 80. Christopher and the #00 Brady team won the very first VMRS race held at Stafford in 2010 and he is looking to put the #00 back into victory lane at Stafford.

“Yeah, I’ll be in Joe’s car for the race,” said Christopher. “We won there a couple years ago and we always seem to run up front in that car. I’ve run that car in Southern races, MRS races, and at New Smyrna. It’s my motor and transmission, but it’s Joe’s car. We were good last year in the Stafford MRS races and we’re always good at Stafford, so I think we should be ok.”

Whereas Christopher is accustomed to Whelen Modified Tour races with distances of 125, 150, or 200 laps at Stafford and the strategies that go along with races of those distances, he says that the 80-lap distance can be a bit tricky to plan a strategy for.

“80 laps is a cool distance, but it’s a tough race,” said Christopher. “Some guys like to hang out and ride around and some guys like Tommy Barrett like to pit and change tires, so it’s a bit different style of racing. It will all depend on where we start the race from. If you start up front, you can slow the pace down, and if you start in the back, you can hang out and wait and then go like heck at the end of the race. It’s a tough deal to figure out, but we’ll see what happens.”
