NASCAR Star Clint Bowyer Set to Tackle Thunder Road

Barre, VT – Stock car superstar Clint Bowyer has added his entry to the 2013 Vermont Lottery Commission Governor’s Cup race Thursday night, July 11th at Barre’s Thunder Road. The Emporia, Kansas NASCAR Sprint Cup racer, currently third in the nation has said that on his bucket list is a trip to Barre’s Thunder Road and one he really wanted to take care of.

Bowyer, who drives the No. 15 Toyota Camry for Michael Waltrip Racing finished third this past weekend in Kentucky and remains third in the national standings behind Jimmy Johnson and Carl Edwards.

“I have been told that Tony Stewart, Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace all came to Barre and came out losers”, said Bowyer. “ I am looking forward to the 150 lap Governor’s Cup race as a chance to redeem and try out the Thunder Road drivers, which I hear are as aggressive as anything in the country. For me this is going to be a fun night.”

Bowyer was able to fit Thunder Road in Thursday night July 11th as he is in New England for the Sunday, July 14th New Hampshire Motor Speedway race. Nick Sweet leads the list of top Thunder Roadsters with whom Bowyer will have to deal. Winner of the Governor’s Cup in two of the last three years, he is considered a strong favorite for the 2013 tilt.

Brooks Clark, Derrick O’Donnell and Emily Packard are among the new names who will be featured in the event, along with Cody Blake, Dave Pembroke, Trampas Demers, Chip Grenier and Phil Scott. They are part of the 30-member cast expected for the 150 laps for what has proven to be one of the season’s best races.

Bowyer, who is a crowd favorite on the national scene says his expectation is that he will be able to spend some time with the crowd and visit with the Thunder Road audience. “I am really coming to race, but I have understood for some time that Vermont fans are special and hope to meet some almost as much as I want to win a race there Thursday night.” (July 11th)
