Jacob Dore of Sanford, ME will make his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour debut at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 13th. Dore is the current points leader and defending EKeys4Cars Modified champion at Star Speedway in Epping, NH.
“The way the deal came together (last Fall) was that I would do all the work on the car, rebuild, and setup,” Dore said. Dore plans to practice the car on Friday at Star to ensure there are no leaks.
Dore will drive the #19 Harold Estey Lumber car for Tom Estey. Perkins Paving, Wire Pro, Spray Foam Solutions, Bentley’s Saloon, Cabana’s Auto Body, Galway Bay Transport, Arundel Machine, Murphy’s Transportation, A.C. Provo’s Auto, J Rankin Towing, Stoney Road Septic, Scott’s Cove Campground, Tapscot Fabrication, Adam’s Park Storage, Mainely Sand and Gravel, and Mainely Motorsports TV also sponsor the 2007 Troyer.
“It’s a major step in my career; it will be my first time driving for someone other than my family.”
Dore began his career in 1998 racing Go-Karts at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME and the old Sugar Hill Speedway in Weare, NH. In 2005, Dore drove Legends Cars on the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour (NELCAR) and the Thursday Night Thunder (TNT) series at Beech Ridge. He was named Rookie of the Year for both circuits at the age of 16. Dore became a full-time driver on both series the next season, earning second in NELCAR points. 2007 saw Dore sweep the NELCAR and TNT championships. Dore won three consecutive Maine state championships in Legends Cars: Semi-Pro (2005-06) and Pro (2007).
Dore’s first season in a Modified was at Star Speedway in 2008, where he finished 5th in points. Dore competed on the Valenti Modified Racing Series from 2009 through 2011, claiming Rookie of the Year honors and a win at Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH.
“I had been going to NHMS since I was little to watch. I never imagined I would get the chance to run this race.”
