The Big Show Gets Bigger, Offering $9,711-to-Win for Super DIRTcar Series

DIRTcar Pro Stock Series Joins Action-Packed Schedule

MALTA, N. Y. – Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified start Brett Hearn is no stranger to Victory Lane, after taking last year’s NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLII VP Small Engine Fuels 200, Eastern States 200, and Mr. DIRT Track U. S. A. at Lebanon Valley Speedway. But when it comes to The Big Show in July, the win means something a little different to Hearn.

Hearn has yet to take the trophy at the show he promotes, even though he came close last year before a late-race charge by Bobby Varin. When he looks ahead to The Big Show 5 Tuesday, July 9, at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, he said winning as a driver “would be nice,” but winning as a promoter was more important.

“Albany-Saratoga is a beautiful place to being with, so it with be a really fun race,” Hearn said of his annual event, which last year moved to the Malta track.

Brett Hearn’s The Big Show 4 was certainly a win on the promotional end, with packed grandstands, an exciting midway, and one of the most thrilling races of the season. This year, Hearn, with the help of some additional sponsorship, is upping the ante.

“On the competition side of things, I think we’ll see more race teams this year because last year was such a good event, a fun event. I’m looking forward to it,” Hearn predicted.

Extra sponsorship courtesy of Sowle Tractor Trailer Repair Services made it possible for Brett Hearn’s The Big Show 5 increase the winner’s share for the Super DIRTcar Series race to $9,711. Additionally, heat race winners will each receive $500.

“With a race like that, when you get a lot of race cars, qualifying could be the whole night,” said Hearn.

In addition to hosting the premier Modified tour, the Super DIRTcar Series, The Big Show 5 at Albany-Saratoga is also upgrading its Pro Stock race to a 75-lap DIRTcar Pro Stock Series event. Local Pro Stock star Rob Yetman is currently tenth in series point standings, and looks forward to battling some of the best in the full-fender division.

“It’s been a while since we’ve had the series traveling on this side of the border,” Yetman said. The Pro Stock Series is highly popular just north of Malta in Quebec and Ontario, and Yetman expects some talented drivers from that region to travel down. “We’ve talked quite a bit, me and Brett about all the details for that night, so i’m looking forward to it.”

Sponsorships from Snap On, Lazzaro Auto Body, Bilstein Shocks/Fastline Performance, JACR Chassis, and Quality Lawn Care and Fuel Goods made it possible for Brett Hearn’s The Big Show 5 presented by Recovery Sports Grill to upgrade its usual Pro Stock race to a series event.

The Morris Ford Dash for Cash returns for The Big Show 5, pitting the top five in Super DIRTcar Series Points against the top five in track points at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.

As far as the 100-lap Super DIRTcar Series feature Hearn will round his night out with at The Big Show 5 is concerned, the driver/promoter promoter is hopeful. With two wins so far as a weekly Big-Block Modified competitor at Albany-Saratoga, Hearn leads in track points.

“We’ve been very consistent,” he said.
