• Competition begins to heat up as the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour heads to the first of its final seven races of the season. Three consecutive wins have propelled George Brunnhoelzl III to a 24-point lead in the championship standings, as he takes aim on a fourth championship.
• Brunnhoelzl scored his first Bowman Gray win when the tour visited on the historic flat quarter-mile track in 2012.
