Veteran Racer Looking For First Bowman Gray SoMod Win
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Tim Brown topped the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour practice charts on Saturday at Bowman Gray Stadium in preparation for the Kevin Powell Motorsports 199.
Brown of Rural Hall, N.C., posted a fast lap of 13.479 second which translates to a speed of 66.771 mph on the legendary quarter-mile track. The nine-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track champion is in search of this first tour win. His best finish in seven starts at his home track is second on two occasions including last season.
Defending tour and race champion George Brunnhoelzl III was second at 13.524 seconds (66.548 mph) followed by Burt Myers and in third at 13.546 seconds (66.440 mph). Andy Seuss was fourth with the exact time. Myers gets the edge by posting the time first. Rookie Luke Fleming was fifth with a time of 13.575 seconds (66.298 mph).
Danny Bohn, Jason Myers, Ryan Preece, Brian Loftin and Woody Pitkat completed the top 10.
Preece, Pitkat and Cole Powell competed in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at Stafford (Conn.) Motor Speedway last night. Preece leads the point standings in the northern tour.
Qualifying for the Kevin Powell Motorsports 199 is set for 5:30 p.m. ET and the race is expected to go green at approximately 8:40 p.m.
