Zahensky & Caron Grab Wins at Canaan

CANAAN, NH — It was a great night of racing at the NASCAR sanctioned Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, New Hampshire as the track produced a winner in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modified division that turned fifteen just last week. Winners included Brad Zahens ky, Guy Caron, Erin Vien, Mitchell Davis, Alexis Aiken and Dan Poliquin.

Young Brad Zahensky who just turned fifteen years of age last week survived a race long challenge from David Miller Jr. to secure his first ever Papa Z’s Modified victory. The win was not an easy one as he not only had to stave off Miller’s challenges, he also had multi-feature winner Michael Willis Jr. in his mirror as well. No one had enough to steal the youngsters thunder as the race had just a single caution. Following the trio to the stripe were Walter Hammond and Walt Hammond Jr. Heat checkers flew for Zahensky and Willis.

The Newport Chevrolet Late Models put on a classic race as Guy Caron worked his way to the front at the mid-race point and never looked back. Meanwhile, Arnie Stygles and Rich Dubeau were battling for the runner-up spot, and Ricky Bly was trying to hold off point leader, Scott MacMichael for fifth. When the checkers flew it was Caron, Stygles, Dubeau, Bly and MacMichael in that order. Tyler Alati and Dubeau carried heat checkers.

Erin Vien held off her father, Scott Vien in a very entertaining NAPA Pure Stock 20 lap feature event. Papa Vien tried everything he could, but his daughter had the stronger car on this night. Following them across the stripe were Tara Tarbell, Matt Morrill and Zac Fraser. Tarbell won the heat race.

Untouchable Mitchell Davis continued his winning ways in the Bond Auto Parts Bandits as he cruised to victory ahead of David Aiken, Josh Dunn, Larry Holmes and Hunter Garduno. Garduno and Holmes won the respective qualifying heats. Alexis Aiken secured another win in the S.K. Bean’s Enfield Garage Daredevil Youth Racers as she ran away and hid from Tyler Travis, Brie-Anna Menard, Ethan Alden and Tyler Tewksbury.

The Northeast Classic Lites had a new winner as Dan Poliquin captured his career first main event win. Ed Gilman, Adam Giacomozzi, Duane Skofield and Tom Harton rounded out the top five.
