PRACTICE: Preece Paces Bristol Field
Looking For Second Marquee Victory In Month
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Ryan Preece was fastest in TitanRoof 150 final practice on Wednesday at Bristol Motor Speedway in the annual NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour combination event.
The Berlin, Conn., driver drove his No. 16 East West Marine/Diversified Metals Ford to a fast-lap time of 14.692 seconds for an average speed of 130.602 mph at the “World’s Fastest Half Mile.”
The NASCAR Next driver and Whelen Modified Tour points leader is looking to score his first Bristol victory later today after finishing third a season ago. Preece already picked up one marquee win earlier this month at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Donny Lia, former Whelen Modified Tour champion and 2009 Bristol winner, was second on the charts at 14.696 seconds (130.566 mph) followed by Tim Brown at 14.729 seconds (130.274 mph). Patrick Emerling scored the fourth-fastest lap of the final session at 14.745 seconds (130.132 mph) while Todd Szegedy was fifth at 13.787 seconds (129.763 mph).
Justin Bonsignore, Doug Coby, Bryon Chew, Eric Goodale and Burt Myers rounded out the top-10 performers in final practice.
Szegedy and Lia posted the exact same time of 14.759 seconds (130.009 mph) to lead the first session of the day followed by Bobby Santos, George Brunnhoelzl III and Ron Yuhas Jr.
Qualifying is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. ET and live coverage of the TitanRoof 150 on Fox Sports 2 will begin at 6 p.m.
