Cody Robbins & Garett Hayman Share Bomber Spotlight
Milford’s Garett Hayman led all 30 laps of the Bomber Division series race #3 and took the win after starting on the pole. Cody Robbins of Montville challenged Hayman hard through two restarts in the closing laps and finished second in the night’s race, and also won the 3 race Bomber series points title. Amy Houde of Howland, who won last Wednesday night’s Ladies Division feature, finished the night’s Bomber race third in the 13 car field. Brewer’s Sam Betts and Carmel’s Denis Burns finished in fourth and fifth respectively. Burns finished second in the series points race, with Scott Bonney of Bangor finishing third.
Andy Saunders of Ellsworth led from the pole to the checkers in the caution free 40 lap Dysart’s Late Model feature with Rookie Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington chasing him for the entire distance and finishing second. Third went to Winterport’s Ryan Deane who was catching the two leaders but ran out of time as the checkers fell. Last week’s winner John Kalel II of Orrington finished a strong fourth with Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs finishing fifth.
Kris Watson of Hermon took the win in the Darling’s Ford Sportsman feature after taking the lead from second place finisher Bradley Smart of Bradley for good on a lap 22 restart. Milford’s Joe Legere raced Smart for the second position over the final three laps, but settled for the third spot at the finish. Fourth went to Kris Matchett of Skowhegan with Franklin’s Mike Overlock in fifth.
Alex Berry of Harrington picked up his first career win in the Keystone Automotive Strictly Streets after leading the caution free 25 lapper from the pole to the checkers. Jordan Pearson of Glenburn passed Cornville’s Shelby Kimball in the closing laps to finish second with Kimball finishing in third. Greg Pung of Franklin was fourth with Matt Kimball of Cornville finishing fifth.
Brad Bosworth of Cornville was awarded the win in the Sport-Fours when Donnie Silva of Hudson was disqualified in post-race inspection for multiple infractions of the rules. Second then went to Carmel’s Ted Ryder, with Glenburn’s Bradley Dolan in third. Jayson Bosworth of Cornville finished fourth, followed by Hermon’s Andrew Crosby in fifth.
Racing action returns to the Hermon oval on Saturday, August 31 at 6:00 when the Dysart’s Late Models, Darling’s Ford Sportsman, Keystone Automotive Strictly Streets, Sport-Fours and Bombers all will compete.
On Wednesday, August 28 at 7:00, Speedway 95 will present the annual Demolition Derby along with the Jim “Crash” Moreau stunt show featuring the Kamakazee Death Dive for the first time ever in the State of Maine.
