Don’t Miss the Final Night in Canaan Fair Asphalt Speedway History
This Saturday night, August 31st will be the final weekly racing show in the history of Canaan Fair Speedway on the “Awesome Asphalt” facility. The track has been sold and the new owner has no plans for racing in 2014 or beyond.
“This Saturday night we will say a tearful good-bye to friends, racers and crews, fans, sponsors and a race track we all love, stated General Manager, Dick Therrien. We have all worked so hard to make this into a show place for auto racing here in the Northeast and this is home. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, and sadly, this is the last race in the history on the asphalt here at Canaan.
We invite all racers to participate one last time, as well as all the fans that we can put into the place. It would be awesome to sell it out!” The final race will be sponsored by Newport Chevrolet and will feature a $1,000 to win, 100 lap Late Model championship event, along with a 25 lap Bandit championship race, plus a non-winners Modified race, Modified Ladies Powder Puff event, Daredevils and the Northeast Classic Lites. Post time is 5pm. Adults are just $12, Jr. & Sr. $10, and Kids 11 & under are free. There will be plenty of free weekend camping and we accept VISA, MasterCard and Discover.
