ACT Pit Notes: NHMS Test and Tune
LOUDON, NH — Thirty-five American Canadian Tour Late Model teams attended the annual test and tune session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Wednesday, September 4 in preparation for the 5th Annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational in a couple weeks. The full day of practice only saw a couple of incidents and several different teams atop the time charts.
Williamstown, VT’s Jimmy Hebert set the fast time of the day with a 31.491 at an average speed of 120.9 mph. Hebert has two ACT wins already this season and is currently sitting third in the standings. Hebert was the cause of the second minor incident of the day as he cut a right front tire and swiped the wall coming off turn two. The car received some damage but he was able to limp it back to the pit area.
Not far behind was another ACT feature winner in 2013, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH with a time of 31.509. Polewarczyk won the Bond Auto ACT Invitational at the “Magic Mile” back in 2010. He also won the inaugural ACT International 500 at Airborne Speedway back in July, and he has another three point counting wins so far this season.
Alex Labbe of St-Albert, QC led the Série ACT Quebec contingent of drivers and was third overall on the speed charts with a 31.531. Labbe is a front runner on the Quebec-based Série ACT and won the Riveride St-Croix Can-Am 200 combination event just a couple weeks ago.
Canaan Fair Speedway regular Aaron Fellows of Croyden, NH ripped off the fourth fastest time of the day at 31.536.
Two-time Bond Auto ACT Invitational winner Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, MA completed the top five in fast times with 31.612. MacDonald is another 2013 ACT winner with his victory just a couple weeks ago at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.
Guy Caron of Lempster, NH and Travis Stearns of Auburn, ME were victorious in the two simulated races as part of the afternoon session.
Bryan Mercer of Port Hope, Ontario was the cause of the first minor incident. He cut a tire entering turn one and brushed the wall in the first practice of the day. He brought his car to the garage area where his crew checked it over and he returned to the track shortly after.
The Bond Auto ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, September 21.
