Defending SoMod Tour Champ In Search Of 11th Caraway Win
ASHEBORO, N.C. – George Brunnhoelzl III knows Caraway Speedway like the back of his hand.
The 10-time Caraway winner in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour led Caraway 150 practice with a lap time of 15.916 seconds for an average speed of 102.915 mph on the .455-mile oval in the Piedmont area of North Carolina. Brunnhoelzl of West Babylon, N.Y., leads the championship standings and won the tour’s last outing at the track on July 6.
Tim Brown was second fastest at 16.006 seconds (102.337 mph) followed by Andy Seuss at 16.014 seconds (102.286 mph). Kyle Ebersole, who picked up his first career win at Langley Speedway in Hampton, Va., on Aug. 31, was fourth at 16.027 seconds (102.203 mph) with Burt Myers in fifth at 16.165 seconds (101.330 mph).
A.J. Winstead, Jeff Fultz, Danny Bohn, Jason Myers and J.R. Bertuccio rounded out the top 10.
Qualifying for the Caraway 150 is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET with the green flag expected to fly at approximately 7 p.m.
