Theriault Leads Crazy Horse Efforts
Season Hits Homestretch With Host Of Strong Performances
SOUTH PARIS, Maine – The car known as “T-Rex” continued feasting on PASS North Series competition last weekend.
Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, dominated the Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep 300 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Sunday, September 15, giving Theriault his second win in five PASS North Series starts in his family-owned No. 57 Pelletier Ford Ford Fusion. The car, built at the beginning of the 2012 season by Crazy Horse Racing, led 192 of the 300 laps after starting on the pole in the 31-car field.
“I’ve got to say, it was probably the easiest 300 laps I’ve ever driven,” Theriault said. “The car was just that awesome.”
The same car won the PASS North Series season finale at Oxford Plains Speedway last year, and it has two wins, three Top-5s and five Top-10s in five races as a Super Late Model. The car was originally built to compete on the ACT Late Model Tour, where it also won a race at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in July of 2012.
Theriault, the 19-year-old Brad Keselowski Racing development driver, took the lead for good on Lap 204 and then held off all chargers on a restart with 12 laps remaining.
“I’m kind of speechless right now, but this is huge,” Theriault said. “This is really a huge win for us.”
BOUVRETTE SCORES VICTORY: Jonathan Bouvrette of Blainville, Que., won the Ste-Eustache 200 on Sunday, September 15, for his first career ACT Castrol Series victory.
Bouvrette won the season finale by leading the final 82 laps en route to Victory Lane. He led twice in the race for a total of 137 laps. He only surrendered the lead during the middle stages of the event after a round of pit stops for the leaders.
Bouvrette finished fourth in the final ACT Castrol Series standings with six Top-5s and eight Top-10s in 11 races.
STEARNS SOLID: Travis Stearns of Auburn, Maine, continued his torrid second-half surge by finishing second in the Vermont State Championship Series 100 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vt., on Sunday, September 15.
Stearns finished second in the Richard Green Racing No. 16 LaQuinta Inns & Suites Chevrolet by just a few inches after a door-to-door battle with Vermont’s Nick Sweet over the final lap.
In the last four races, Stearns has finished fourth at Beech Ridge, won his first career ACT event at Thunder Road and finished second at Devil’s Bowl as the team prepares to head to the Bond Auto ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend.
ROCCO ROLLING: Keith Rocco of Wallingford, Conn., continued his domination in the Late Model division at Waterford Speedbowl, picking up his ninth win of the season on Saturday, September 14… Luke Shannon picked up his third win of the season at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, N.H., on Saturday, September 14… Brandon Lambert finished second at Riverside to Shannon, giving Crazy Horse Racing teams a 1-2 finish in the season finale there… Ryan Vanasse of Warwick, R.I., won the 35-lap Late Model main event at Seekonk Speedway on Saturday night for his first win of the season.
