Analyzing The G-Oil 150 At Southern National
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour returns to Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, N.C., on Saturday, Oct. 5. Below is a statistical look at the recent performance of the series and selected drivers at SNMP, as well as some other statistical trends:
Southern National Race Setup
• Three-time tour champion George Brunnhoelzl III holds a 30-point edge in the championship standings as the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour heads into its final two races of 2013.
• The seven drivers in second through eighth of the standings are separated by just 44 points. Kyle Ebersole and Andy Seuss have the best opportunity to knock Brunnhoelzl from his perch.
NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour At Southern National
• The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour is making its second visit this season and fifth stop overall to the .4-mile oval in Kenly, N.C.
• The track features 17 degrees of banking in the corners and seven-degree banking on the straightaways.
• Burt Myers is the only multiple winner at SNMP – having won the last two tour events, in September of 2008 and March of this year.
• L.W. Miller is the only driver with multiple poles at Southern National, setting the fast mark in 2006 and 2008.
• Tim Brown and Burt Myers are tied for the most top fives at SNMP, with four each.
• Only four drivers have competed in all four tour events at Southern National – Tim Brown, George Brunnhoelzl III, Burt Myers and Jason Myers.
• The inaugural tour event at Southern National was 100 laps, while subsequent races have been 150 laps.
