$20 a Carload Offer to Greet PASS Fans at Orange County
CHARLOTTE, NC — After a long season for fans and competitors that began back in March, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) will be giving back to their fans at Orange County Speedway. PASS Fan Appreciation will offer $20 a car load admission for up to four adults per car at the upcoming 8th Annual Orange Blossom Special on Saturday, October 19th featuring 150 laps of intense action for the PASS South Super Late Models. Any additional adults in a vehicle with more than four adults will only be charged $5 more per person. Always innovative, PASS was the first short track racing sanctioning body in the country to make this opportunity available back in 2010 at Orange County Speedway.
“We felt like Orange County Speedway was the perfect place to make this offer available to our fans who have supported us all season long,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “Orange County has proven to be an ideal facility for the PASS South Super Late Models and we expect this year’s Orange Blossom Special to be one of the biggest yet.”
One driver particularly looking forward to the Orange Blossom Special is third generation racer, Tate Fogleman. His grandfather, Kent, and father, current PASS South points leader Jay Fogleman, both started their careers in racing at Orange County Speedway. Living in nearby Durham, NC, Tate Fogleman has accumulated more laps of testing and racing Bandoleros and PASS Pro Late Models at Orange County than any other track on the PASS South schedule. However, this year’s Orange Blossom Special will be the 13-year-old driver’s first opportunity to race the much faster PASS South Super Late Models at his home track. PASS Fan Appreciation will give Tate the chance to compete in front of a great crowd of friends and family.
“We only live about 20 minutes away from Orange County and we have a lot of people coming to the race since it’s so close,” said Fogleman. “We’d like to be able to finish in the top three and, if we can, get my first PASS South win.”
After a promising start to the season which saw Tate finish 7th at Florida’s Auburndale Speedway in the PASS National opener, the Foglemans decided to forego their plan of racing for the PASS Pro Late Model championship and tackle the much tougher PASS South circuit. Steady improvement has seen Tate match his 7th place finish in Florida with another at Southern National Motorsports Park in June. The younger Fogleman currently sits sixth in PASS South points and, with his experience at Orange County, has him feeling like a win could be just around the corner.
“We’ve been there a lot testing since it’s so close and we’ve kind of found a line that’s pretty fast,” said the driver of the #8 Speedco Truck Lube & Tire Ford. “Every time we go there we seem to be pretty good and I think we’re pretty comfortable so far.”
Action gets under way on Friday, October 18th at Orange County Speedway with rotating practice for the PASS South Super Late Models, PASS Pro Late Models, and CCS Modifieds from 3 PM – 6:00 PM. On Saturday, October 19th, practice for the Orange Blossom Special rolls from 2 PM – 3:50 PM, qualifying begins at 4:30 PM, followed by main event racing at 6 PM.
Anticipation continues to build for a huge month of November which kicks off with the North-South Shootout at Caraway Speedway on November 9th. Two weeks later on November 23rd, the PASS South and PASS National Champions will be crowned at Southern National Motorsports Park as part of the 8th Annual Mason Dixon Meltdown, which will also feature the Must See Xtreme Racing Winged Sprint Cars.
