Matt Hirschman Takes John Blewett North-South Shootout Pole Friday
SOPHIA, NC— Four-time John Blewett North-South Shootout winner Matt Hirschman, from Northhampton, Pa., served notice that he will be the one to beat in Saturday’s 125-lap tour-type Modified Open, as he turned a lap at 15.595 seconds at the half-mile Caraway Speedway on Friday evening.
NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Champion George Brunnhoelzl III will start on the outside of the front row. He turned a lap at 15.692 seconds. Brian Loftin, Andy Seuss and Tommy Barrett rounded out the top five.
Burt Myers, Chris Pasteryak, Jason Myers, Chuck Hossfeld, Gary Putnam, Tommy Cloce and Ron Silk rounded out the top 12, who will not have to run a qualifying heat race tonight.
The balance of qualifying, including a full field of PASS South Super Late Models will also qualify tonight. On Saturday morning practice and a pit party will precede a 2:00 PM start for the PASS 150, the North-South Shootout 125 for Modifieds paying a minimum of $6,000, and other support division events.
