Smeriglio Racing Makes Driver Change
Team Parts Ways With Szegedy
NEWTOWN, Conn. — The Michael Smeriglio III Racing Team of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour has announced that it will make a change in drivers for the upcoming 2014 season.
After eight years of a successful racing relationship, team owner Mike Smeriglio and driver Todd Szegedy have mutually decided to part ways.
“Todd is a great driver and a better friend. We both feel a change after so many years is a way to attract new sponsors and pursue other racing opportunities for both of us,” Smeriglio said.
Phil Moran will continue on as the crew chief of the No. 2 team, and the search for a new driver will begin immediately.
