Granite State Pro Stock Series 2013 Banquet in the Books

Mike O’Sullivan Honors as 2013 Champion

Mike O'Sullivan

MANCHESTER, NH — The Granite State Pro Stock Series celebrated an illustrious 2013 season on December 27th at the Best Western Plus Conference Center in Manchester, NH.

The top 10 in points were honored for their successful seasons as 65 drivers attempted to qualify for the 11 races the GSPSS held in 2013. Springfield, MA’s own Mike O’Sullivan topped the field for the year, claiming the championship in the series’ sophomore season. Larry Gelinas picked up the win on the final race of the year to secure his runner-up spot in the final standings, with Jeremy Davis taking third overall. O’Sullivan credited his success to his family and crew, citing dedication and support as reasons for his consistent success.

Many special awards were handed out on the night. The Hard Luck award was given to Mike Rivard. Receiving the Jack’s Competition Engines/AR Bodies Rookie of the Year award was Tom O’Sullivan, brother to the champion Mike O’Sullivan. The O’Sullivan family also collected another award as Mike received the Ricky’s Real Racer award. The John Hoyt Memorial Award was given to Jack Bateman, as the whole GSPSS awarded the former co-owner of the series with this honor for his dedication. Also, Jake Vanada and Fran Colson picked up gift certificates to AR Bodies, while Carl Eriksson and Erick Sands won gift certificates to Five Star Bodies.

The series announcer for the first two years, Kevin Boucher, announced that he will be stepping down and welcomed Shawn Sicard to the ranks. Sicard will be taking over the announcing duties, as well as press releases and media coordination. Sicard previously held that title at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH.

A preliminary schedule was posted at the banquet for the 2014 season. The series will once again visit Thompson International Speedway to start the season at the Icebreaker April 5th & 6th, and close the season at the World Series of Speedway Racing October 18th and 19th. The series visits Monadnock in May, followed by Hudson and Star in July before making its inaugural visit to Lee USA Speedway July 25th. A busy month of August has the series travelling back to Monadnock, Star, and Hudson before headed to White Mountain Motorsports Park for the first time on September 20th. More dates will be announced soon.

The GSPSS will be holding its first meeting for the 2014 season January 18th at the Thompson International Speedway clubhouse at 12 PM. This is an informational meeting about the upcoming season as well as completion of the schedule. All are encouraged to attend.
