Huge Month of March to Launch 10th Anniversary Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour in 2014

Extra Bonus Money to Be Awarded To Top 5 Modified Drivers after Busy Month!

BINGHAMTON, NY — The 2014 Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour will begin its 10th Anniversary Season with a huge month of March to get it all underway. The seventh annual Ice Breaker will take place at the Selinsgrove Speedway on March 14th and 15th and will get a busy month under way. An extra incentive has just been added to the top five drivers in the RoC Modified Tour points after the March swing. An extra $3,000 has been posted as an individual bonus to be split up among those top five. The March RoC tour races already boast big purses for the Modified teams that take part in the early season must see events.

In the past the early season Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour events have been hugely successful and this year the top five teams at month’s end will receive a little extra bonus dough. The driver leading the RoC Modified Tour points at the end of March will get a $1,000 bonus the second, third, fourth and fifth place drivers will each get a $500 bonus. The early season events don’t always represent who will be in the point race at the end of the season which will provide an opportunity for a team that gets hot early to cash in. Last year Bobby Varin led the points at the conclusion of March over Stewart Friesen, Craig VonDohren, Jimmy Horton and Ryan Godown.

The annual IceBreaker event has been a big success at the popular Selinsgrove Speedway in years past. Once again this year the weekend will serve as the openers for the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour. On Friday, the RoC Small Block event will take place with Saturday set for the RoC Big Block Modifieds. Only a driver’s best single day finish of the two will count toward the overall RoC point standings. This past season Duane Howard recorded the Friday night win with Saturday falling victim to the weather for the first time since the event’s inception. Sunday is a rain date as needed. On Friday the RoC Small Blocks will run in a 25 lap event paying $2,500 to win. There will also be practice on Friday for the RoC Big Block teams and RoC Sportsman Teams. On Saturday The RoC Modifieds will do battle in a 40 lap event paying a minimum of $5,000 to win and the RoC Sportsman will make their inaugural trip to Selinsgrove in a 20 lap feature paying $1,200 to win.

The following Saturday, March 22nd will see the return of the Cabin Fever 60 at the New Egypt Speedway in New Jersey. This early season event has turned in to a fan favorite at the exciting and historic speedway. This year Jimmy Horton bested a stellar field of the top northeast Modified talent to record the victory. The Cabin Fever 60 will see the winners share once again sky rocket to $10,000 if the race winner is part of the tracks “Gamblers program”.

Bridgeport Speedway will be the site of the final weekend of racing in March for the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour with a 60 lap special event. Action will take place on Saturday, March 29th with a rain date set for the next day. The race is slated to be the first on the newly configured speedway layout and once again will see the best in the area battling wheel to wheel. This past season saw Bobby Varin invade and pick up the victory in the race that was a tribute to the memory of Doug Hoffman. Once again the winners share will be a minimum of $6,060 if a driver participates in the tracks “Gamblers Program”.
