Nick Lascoula Pursuing Late Model ROY, Legends Car Title

Abington Driver Advancing to Late Models

Defending Seekonk Legends Car champion Nick Lascuola of Abington, MA will have a busy racing season ahead. “I plan on racing a full Seekonk Friday Legends schedule and go for a second championship in a row along with the full Seekonk schedule on Saturdays for Late Models and go for Rookie of the Year in that and a win or two,” Lascuola said. “Those are the plans and goals for 2014 for me.”

Lascuola also plans to enter three American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model races – Lee USA on April 12-13, Devil’s Bowl on May 4 and October 4-5 at Thunder Road for the Milk Bowl. All three tracks are new for him. “(I) have been watching a lot of YouTube videos as of the moment,” Lascuola said. “Sometimes the best way is to watch others. (The) tracks look like a lot of fun.”

For the second consecutive year, Lascuola is entered in the Champion® Spark Plugs Search for a Champion Contest. Now through February 2, visitors to the Search for a Champion Contest site can vote for their favorite driver. Nearly 400 contestants are vying for $125,000 in racing sponsorship. 15 will be given $5,000 in sponsorship, with the Grand Prize worth $50,000.

“Last year I was an honorable mention,” Lascuola said. “(I) finished just out of the top 15, but it was a great chance to help get me exposed to a wider audience. “It was pretty cool (when I) won a $500 gift card.”

“Winning the contest would help me with some needed and valuable funding to run more races,” Lascuola said. “I think winning the contest would give me the opportunity to bring my racing to that level that sometimes family funded racing misses out on.

Barrett’s Haunted Mansion, Simpson Racing Products, The Brake Man, Midway Automotive, Nick’s Pitstop and Motivated Eyewear provide sponsorship for his efforts. His father Keith is the crew chief. Bobby Hayden works as a mechanic. Joey Parker handles tires and setup, while Al Wisialko is the spotter.

Lascuola won eight races at Seekonk Speedway en route to three championships last season – Nick’s Pit Stop Legends, Phil’s Propane Triple Crown and INEX Pro. The annual D. Anthony Venditti Memorial saw Lascuola score his ninth win of the season on Friday night. On Saturday, he finished ninth in his Late Model debut.
