Large Crowds, Happy Vendors, Loads of Excitement Make for Successful 29th Edition of Motorsports 2014 Racecar & Trade Show

OAKS, PA — Throngs of people filled the more than 225, 000 square feet of the Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports 2014 Racecar & Trade Show fueled by Sunoco and distributed by Insinger Performance.

Many of the vendors that filled the more than 600 display areas reported brisk sales with first time exhibitor, Chris Noel (Old Man Garage, Rainbow City, Alabama) said, “We came here to expand our market reach and this show helped us do that. We will be back for the next one.”

More than 200 racing vehicles were on display during the show. Hundreds of fans had the opportunity to meet 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski, NASCAR legends Harry Gant and Ricky Craven, former IndyCar racer Bill Simpson and a host of local and regional racers during the three day show that ran from Friday, Jan.10th to Sunday, Jan. 12th at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.

Show organizer Lenny Sammons was very happy with the success of the show and is already working with his staff in planning the 30th annual version of the midwinter happening in motorsports that offers something for just about everyone. Dates will be announced in the very near future.

Cassi Pinder, a 21-year-old redhead from Boyertown, Pa, was crowned Ms. Motorsports 2014 Saturday night. “I am so thrilled to win,” said Ms. Pinder. Ms. Pinder earned $1,500 in cash and other awards. The pageant was sponsored by HIT ecigs for the first time. Ms. Pinder will have the opportunity to represent the Motorsports show at a variety of auto racing events during the season.

First runner-up was Lainey Shaw Reinhart, 26, of Corsica, Pa., and Brittany Loss, 22, of Hanover, Pa., was voted second runner-up.

Ms. Pinder also was recognized as Best Sportswear, and in a separate contest-within-a-contest, earned $500 in a special Fan Vote Swimwear competition.

Other award winners were Amy Costello in judged Swimwear, Lainey Shaw Reinhard for Best Interview, Erika Decker for Ms. Congeniality, and Paige Ott for Most Photogenic.

Best Drag Car: ‘Krazy Ed’ Foley’s Pro Stock – Speed Equipment Corporation Booth

Best Vintage Open Cockpit Car: Dave Kelly’s No.17 1980s URC Sprint – Owned by Leroy Silfies. Car refurbished by Don “Huffy” Hoffman.

Best Vintage Stock Car: Ken Brenn’s Chevrolet Coupe Modified in East Windsor Speedway Memories Display- Owned by Rich Miller, Lester Miller, Sr., Lester Miller, Jr.

Best Appearing Commercial Display: Old Man Engineering Of Rainbow City, Alabama (First Time Exhibitor)

Best Vintage Club Display: Flemington Speedway Historical Society, Mark Harrington, President

Best Quarter Midget / Kart Club Display; Blackbird Quarter Midget Club, New Castle, Del.

The final day of the Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports 2014 Racecar and Trade Show was largely dedicated to the younger set. Metal Fab Pro Shop sponsored three children’s themed events over the course of the busy third day of the Show. Children 12 and under were admitted free.

As Ms. Motorsports 2014 Cassi Pinder presided over the first day of her reign, Ava Horvath, 9, of Schnecksville, Pa., was named Little Ms. Motorsports. The new Little Ms. Particularly likes Indy Car racing which “I enjoy watching with my dad”. Jayden Gursky, 8 of Palmerton, Pa., and Kiersten Gursky, 10, also of Palmerton, were first and second runners-up.

Kira Shawn Hettler, 5 of Lehighton was named Tiny Ms. Motorsports 2014. She is active in the sport as a quarter midget driver. Olivia Valente, 7 and Kylie Cameron, 4, were first and second runners-up.

The final competition of the day – and of the 2014 Motorsports Show – was the annual Kids Big Wheel Race, with a large number of entries requiring heat races to qualify for main events in three age categories. In the 3-4 age group, Riley Patterson outran TJ Gursky and James Fries to win. The 5-6 age bracket was won by Logan Watts ahead of Travis Forel and Steven Reeves while in the 7-8 class, Liam O’Connor, Jayden Gursky and Jason Rice, Jr. were the top three.
