Jordan Lamothe to Barry Light Modified at Thompson; Woodstock Driver Eyes Stafford Legend Car Run

Jordan Lamothe of Woodstock, CT will be driving the #39 D-Mac and Son Plumbing and Heating Light Modified at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for Karl Barry. The ride became available for Lamothe after Corey Barry, who drove the car last season, was offered another Light Modified ride. Lamothe has known the Barry family back to his days in the quarter midgets and was offered the car at Thompson.

“I have to thank the Barry family, my parents, Overhead Door Company of Worcester, Waddell Communications, all the sponsors on the car and Chris Merchant for stepping up and being my spotter, even though he has a hectic schedule,” Lamothe said.

Plans for Lamothe have changed since November, when he was considering an ACT Late Model and 600 dirt car races in Pennsylvania. February races in the Winter Heat Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Winter Nationals at Auburndale Speedway are possible.

Lamothe will drive a Legend Car at Stafford Motor Speedway. Lamothe will also make select appearances at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Seekonk Speedway and Waterford Speedbowl. Overhead Door Company, Chacers Bar and Grille, TS Motorsports, Camaro Signs provide sponsorship for Lamothe. Lamothe will be in the Young Lions class, but could move up to the Semi-Pro class.

Lamothe is excited for the upcoming season at Stafford, where Legend Cars have not raced regularly in many years. “That’s going to be a blast!” Lamothe said. “We did the exhibition race last summer and that was awesome short track racing. Thanks to David Arute and the Arute family for allowing us to race there. I think it will be a great track once you get a good setup and once everything starts going well. It’s a lot like Bethel Motor Speedway.”

Lamothe followed his father into the sport. His father owned a Late Model at Thompson, but sold it when Jordan was five and purchased a quarter midget. Lamothe raced quarter midgets until the age of 11, including winning a national race at Wall (NJ) Stadium. Lamothe joined the INEX club for Bandoleros and moved into his current division, Legend Cars after that.

“In my racing career I want to be successful and like my dad always says, have fun,” Lamothe said. “I would like to eventually run more modified stuff after this season.”
