Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park to Showcase NWAAS in Complimentary Garages

THOMPSON, CT — Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) Officials announced today that, as a way to say thank you to each of the track’s four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions, they will be offering complimentary use of the garages during selected events of the 2014 season. The Sunoco Modified, Late Model, Limited Sportsman, and Mini Stock Divisions will all be in one of the garage’s 30 stalls during one of the track’s seven events.

“We are delighted to showcase our oval track competitors, who have been with us for nearly 75 years, in our brand new garage building,” said TSMP’s General Manager, Josh Vanada.

For their 20/20 Sprint – scheduled for Thursday, May 15 – the Late Model stock cars will be housed inside of the newly-constructed, 15,000 square-foot garage building. On Thursday, May 29, the eve of their 20-lap extra-distance race, the Mini Stock Division will have their opportunity to take advantage of one of the facility’s newest amenities. July 30, which promises to be one of the most exciting nights of open-wheel short track racing, will be the night that the Sunoco Modified racecars will be stored in the garage. The Limited Sportsman division will have their turn on Thursday, September 4.

“Our oval track is a rich part of our history, and it will continue to play an important part in our future,” Vanada continued. “Last year, as we began the process of renovating the facility, our oval track competitors had to endure a lot of change and continued to support us. We are grateful for that. It has been our goal all along to create a premier grassroots motorsports facility with fine amenities for all to enjoy, and it seems fitting that our long-time supporters should enjoy them on us this year,” Vanada concluded.

The 2014 oval track campaign will get underway with the facility’s traditional season opener – the Icebreaker. Spanning across nearly four decades, it has long been one of New England’s premier season-opening short track events. This year’s version will feature nine divisions including the four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, the Granite State Pro Stock Series, the Lite Modifieds, the New England Truck Series, and the Vintage Outlaws.
