Tommy Baldwin Racing Signs Ryan Preece to Drive No. 36 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nationwide Series
Mooresville, N.C., — Tommy Baldwin Racing has hired Ryan Preece, the 2013 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Champion, to run two races in the NASCAR Nationwide series in 2014 in the No. 36 Chevrolet. Preece will make starts at Richmond International Raceway as well as returning to New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Preece, a member of the prestigious NASCAR Next program, has a decorated NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour career under his belt. He made his career debut in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2013 with Tommy Baldwin Racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. In seven years in the NWMT Preece has made 95 career starts including nine wins, 42 top five finishes, 54 top 10 finishes and 11 pole position starts.
East West Marine, based out of Manorville, N.Y., will adorn Preece’s No. 36 Chevrolet for both races.
“We are very excited to be able to support Ryan’s continued progression through the NASCAR ranks and once again be a partner with Tommy Baldwin Racing,” said Brian Slaga, President of East West Marine. “We fully support Ryan’s career through the various racing series that he participates in. He is a great ambassador for East West Marine and we are proud to have him wave our flag. We look forward to his continued success for many years to come.”
“I can’t wait, and I’m very happy to have this chance again. You never know if your first race in a car, could be your last one. Making the best of the opportunity is key. I’m very lucky to have someone like Tommy pushing and supporting me. He has given me a ‘true’ opportunity that is very hard to come by in today’s racing. There aren’t very many car owners that will put you in a car like he is doing,” said Preece. “I’m looking forward to getting back in a full body car and doing what I love to do. Driving for Tommy is fun because he is from ‘modified country’, and has the same personality that we all do. Working with all the guys at TBR is fun too, they are all hardcore racers and all have the same goal in mind. Also, I’m very lucky to have a guy like Brian Slaga behind me with East West Marine and his company. He supports me 100% and helps me with whatever is needed to race or be at the track.”
Team owner Tommy Baldwin also commented, “Ryan proved himself last year at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and we are looking forward to his return with TBR.”
