Opening This Sunday At Fairgrounds Square Mall Of Reading, PA: Berks-Schuylkill Oil Heat Association Racing Legends Reunion & Car Show News & Notes

This Sunday, the 29th annual Racing Legends Reunion & Car Show begins at the Fairgrounds Square Mall, located on 5th Street Highway in Muhlenberg Township, Pa. The show runs through Saturday, March 1. Berks-Schuylkill Oil Heat Association returns as headline sponsor for the second consecutive year.

Some notes…
Due to the heavy snow in the last few weeks, we do have some race teams who have canceled or may have to cancel because their trucks/trailers/shops are buried. With that said, there is room for last-minute entries.  If you have a vehicle, you would like to enter, e-mail Deyo99H@aol.com or call 845.728.2781. Race cars are permitted to move in Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Race tracks/series to be represented include Grandview Speedway, Thunder on the Hill Racing Series, Linda’s Speedway, New Egypt Speedway, Action Track USA, Big Diamond Speedway, ARDC, URC, Short Track Super Series, LANCO’s Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway, SCCA, Blast from the Past Vintage Club, Oreville Kart Club & Montgomery County Quarter Midgets.

A number of vendors will be on hand selling memorabilia from the sport’s past and present. Racing DVDs will also be available.

The Reading Fairgrounds Racing Historical Society and the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing will offer displays for history buffs.

The Birdsboro R/C club will be a new addition this year. Popular Alley Model Racing returns as a nightly attraction.

Each night of the event will have a theme: Sportsman/Late Model/Street Stock/Roadrunner Monday (Feb. 24), Open Wheel Night Tuesday (Feb. 25), Small Car Night/Action Track USA Wednesday (Feb. 26), Modified Madness Night Thursday (Feb. 27), Thunder on the Hill 25th Anniversary Celebration Friday (Feb. 28) and the annual Reading Fairgrounds Speedway Reunion Saturday (March 1).

“Lebanon Levi” of the Discovery Channel television show ‘Amish Mafia’ will appear on Feb. 26, Wednesday, from 5-9 p.m. at the LANCO Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway display. Levi is a race team sponsor of a Micro-Sprint at LANCO.

Celebrity bartending is planned for Applebee’s in the mall parking lot Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights.  Drivers will be announced this weekend.

Best of Show and divisional show awards will be handed out at the show Friday evening. The annual Don Marks Memorial Contribution to Motorsports award will also be distributed.

A full press release will be issued for the show’s opening day with driver appearances.
