R.A.D. Automachine Providing $1,500 to Stafford Motor Speedway Ltd. Late Model & DARE Stock Rookie of the Year Competitors in 2014
Stafford Springs, CT — -As the 2014 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season draws ever closer to taking the green flag at Stafford Motor Speedway, the big news continues to pour out of the half-mile track. Last season, Don Wood from R.A.D. Automachine instituted the very first Rookie of the Year award for the DARE Stock division, which was worth a $400 bonus. For the 2014 season, Wood and R.A.D. Automachine have stepped up their involvement in the rookie department with the announcement that they will be providing not only a DARE Stock rookie award, but a Limited Late Model rookie award as well. The Limited Late Model award will be worth a cool $1,000 to the top finishing rookie driver and the DARE Stock rookie award will be worth $500 for a total of $1,500 up for grabs.
“The Limited Late Model and DARE Stock divisions are great racing divisions and those guys race just as hard as the guys and girls in the SK Modifieds® and Late Models do,” said Don Wood, owner of R.A.D. Automachine. “We do a lot of business with drivers from the Ltd. Late Model and DARE Stocks with the crate engines so we definitely like being able to put up a nice bonus for the crate engine divisions. This is something nice for the rookie drivers to shoot for this season and maybe this bonus will help entice some rookie drivers to sign up for either of those two divisions and go race for some bonus money.”
In order for a driver to be eligible to win the R.A.D. Automachine Limited Late Model or DARE Stock Rookie of the Year Awards, a driver must not have competed in more than 5 races in the Ltd. LM or DARE Stock or a higher division at Stafford in any previous season.
The Limited Late Model 2014 rookie class currently consists of two DARE Stock graduates, 2012 DARE Stock champion Cliff Saunders and Kelsey Rottino. The 2014 DARE Stock rookie class currently consists of third generation racer Nikki Chambrello, Trace Beyer, Bill McNeil, and Frank Alessio.
