PRACTICE: Seuss Off to Fast Early Start

Led The Way In Whelen Southern Modified Caraway Practice

SOPHIA, N.C. – Andy Seuss won the last two NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour events at Caraway Speedway last fall, and he’s picked up right where he left off.

Seuss, from Hampstead, N.H., posted a fast lap of 15.983 seconds (102.484 mph) during the 30-minute practice session in advance of Sunday’s Whelen Season Opener 150 at the venerable .455-mile oval.

Seuss has eight career victories at Caraway, tied for second with Brian Loftin and trailing only George Brunnhoelzl III’s 10.

Kyle Ebersole finished second on the speed chart at 16.104 (101.714) followed by Brunnhoelzl at 16.117 (101.632).

Loftin and Danny Bohn rounded out the top five while JR Bertuccio, Cody Ware, Cole Powell, Joe Ryan Osborne and Luke Fleming brought home the top 10 in the 19-car field. Defending race winner Jason Myers ranked 11th.

Coors Light Pole qualifying is slated for 2:20 p.m., and green flag for the Whelen Season Opener 150 will be at approximately 4:15 p.m.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series late models will lead off Sunday’s features with a 100-lap race starting at 3 p.m.
