Brodie Kostecki Hoping to Continue Upward Trend at Greenville
16-Year-Old Hoping to Improve on Season-Best 12th Last Week at Bristol
After filling the books with notes in the first three events of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season, 16-year-old Brodie Kostecki and his Arcoplate No. 43 tem are ready to build some momentum towards a run at the Sunoco Rookie of the Year title. Kostecki has positives to build on from his first races at New Smyrna (FL), Daytona (FL) and Bristol (TN), but the results at the end of the three races haven’t been to his satisfaction.
Kostecki now hopes to continue an upward slope following last week’s 12th-place finish in the K&N East race at Bristol as he moves to historic Greenville Pickens Speedway for the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 this Saturday, March 22.
“I raced late models last year and we ran on a lot of flat racetracks and some of that experience will be put to good use this weekend at Greenville, considering I’ve never raced there before,” said Kostecki. “I know that place is tough, very flat and you have to run right up against the inside wall. It’s just one of those things where you’ve got to have a lot of forward drive at the end of the race. That’s what will make or break your night.”
Although some teams were able to make their way to the Easley, South Carolina track, Kostecki and the Arcoplate racing team were not able to take part. The team will make the most of their time this week to ensure that their ride is ready to roll when they unload on Saturday.
“We never got time to test at Greenville,” said Kostecki. “So it will be one of those times again where we just show up and have our equipment right from the shop and try to move forward as efficiently as possible to make the most of it.”
BACK TO BACK DEBUTS
After making his first Bristol Motor Speedway start this past weekend in the PittLite 125, Brodie Kostecki will now make his Greenville Pickens Speedway debut in the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 on Saturday, March 22. The 150-lap event marks the series’ first of two visits to the South Carolina half-mile this season.
NEW DEAL
Greenville Pickens Speedway is known as an abrasive track for tire wear. Unlike in previous events at the Easley, South Carolina venue, teams will now be allowed four more tires and a halfway break to make the swap in the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150.
TUNE IN
Speed51.com will have live Trackside Now web updates of the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 Saturday. The race will air on FOX Sports 1 on Friday, March 28 at 11:00am ET.
