Waterford Forced to Cancel Blastoff Opener
Waterford, CT — With winter still hanging on and a forecast indicating it still doesn’t feel like spring, Waterford Speedbowl officials were forced to postpone the season opening ‘Blastoff 100’ at the Connecticut oval to next month.
The announcement was made Thursday afternoon.
‘Valenti Modified Racing Series Director Scott Tapley had been keeping tabs on the long range weather picture since last weekend.
“While the postponement of our season opener is never fun, I’m glad that we were able to get the news out to our teams, fans and staff so that we can save them their vacation time and finances as best we could. We are very excited to have this event rescheduled in its entirety on April 12th-13th and we look forward to kicking off our most anticipated VMRS season, to date, on that weekend”
It is hoped the series will be able to schedule a practice day on Friday, April 11, like originally planned.
33 race teams indicated through tire registrations their intent to compete in the season opener.
