Willie Allen Ready for the Southern Super Series to Make Home-Track Stop at Nashville

Part-Time NASCAR Racer Hoping to Defend Home Turf on April 5

Bon Aqua, Tennessee’s Willie Allen cut his racing teeth at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville near his home town. Allen was another driver, along with Sterling Marlin, Darrell Waltrip and Bobby Hamilton, among others, to parlay success at Nashville early in his career into opportunities at the highest level of the sport, having made 61 career starts in the NASCAR Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series since 2005.

Now, while still keeping his schedule as full as possible with opportunities in the NASCAR national series, Allen is in search of more short track success. His next opportunity to do so comes when the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco invades his home track in Nashville on Saturday, April 5 for a 125-lap main event.

Allen will pilot his No. 26 Super Late Model, sponsored by WAR Shocks, his racing shock-building company, in the event that has the 33-year-old driver chomping at the bit.

“I’m just really looking forward to that race,” said Allen, who competed four times with the Southern Super Series in 2013 and had a season-best finish of 12th at Florida’s Five Flags Speedway. “Anytime you can race at home in front of your family and friends it’s great. And the competition of the Southern Super Series never disappoints; it’s always a blast.”

Allen, who has more laps at the Tennessee speedway than most drivers on the circuit, is looking to use that track time to his advantage against many of the South’s strongest Super Late Model competitors this weekend.

“I’ve definitely got several laps around that track,” said Allen. “We’ve run several races there. I feel like we’ve got a good setup and a good handle on the track. We could always be better, but I feel like we’ve got a good head start on the competition as far as getting time on that track. I feel like we’ve got our car put together and I’m looking forward to the race.”

The Southern Super Series went to a new tire for the 2014 season and Allen thinks it will react well with the Nashville track and will encourage more side-by-side racing for the track’s passionate fan base.

“I know they’re on a little different tire this year,” said Allen. “And I think that is going to provide a lot better racing than last year – a lot better side by side racing. So I’m really looking forward to the race being an awesome show.”

Looking past Nashville and toward the remainder of the 2014 season, Allen hopes to make it to several more Southern Super Series shows throughout the year.

“I hope to run Montgomery and Pensacola and Mobile some. We’ll just kind of have to see how it goes. I don’t really have any definite plans yet on which races but we definitely want to run several.”

The 125-lap event is the first regular-distance race of the season for the Southern Super Series. There will be a practice day on Friday, April 4th. Further details on this event can be found on www.fairgroundspeedwaynashville.com or www.southernsuperseries.com.
