PRACTICE: Pitkat Paces Sizzler Session
Fastest Saturday Afternoon At Stafford
STAFFORD, Conn. – Woody Pitkat was fastest in practice and qualifying in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season-opener, and at Stafford Motor Speedway he’s picked up right where he left off in early April at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.
Pitkat posted a fast lap of 18.035 seconds (99.806 mph) in NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler 200 practice, which was delayed by four hours at the start due to rain at the track.
A Stafford native, Pitkat ended up finishing second in the opener at Thompson. Sunday, at his home track, Pitkat will once again vie for that elusive first career Whelen Modified Tour win.
Reigning tour titlist Ryan Preece finished second on the speed chart at 18.080 (99.588), just ahead of two-time Spring Sizzler winner Doug Coby at 18.081 (99.552).
Thompson opener winner Justin Bonsignore finished fourth and Donny Lia fifth. Tommy Barrett Jr., Eric Goodale, Rowan Pennink, Ron Silk and five-time Sizzler winner Ted Christopher brought home the top 10.
Coors Light Pole qualifying is slated to begin at 5:50 p.m.
