Woody Pitkat Picks Up TSI Harley-Davidson Sponsorship for TSI Harley-Davidson 125 at Stafford Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — When the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour takes the green flag at Stafford Motor Speedway for the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 on May 23rd, hometown driver Woody Pitkat will have some extra incentive to go out and win the race.  TSI Harley-Davidson, the title sponsor of the race and a longtime supporter of Pitkat’s weekly racing efforts, will be a sponsor on Pitkat’s #88 car as he chases after his first career NWMT victory.

“TSI Harley-Davidson is going to be on the car helping us out,” said Pitkat.  “TSI first started helping me out back in 2005 so it’s been almost 10 years of sponsorship.  Harry Levesque is a great supporter of racing at Stafford. It’s an honor to have TSI on the car again and I think this might be my best shot at having a chance to win, so hopefully I can win their race with the TSI Harley-Davidson name on the car.”

Prior to the start of the 2014 season, Pitkat joined the #88 Buzz Chew Chevrolet-Cadillac team and the results have been an instant hit through the first two races of the 2014 season.  Pitkat won his first career pole position in the season opener at Thompson and finished second and then he qualified outside pole for the NAPA Spring Sizzler at Stafford and he finished fourth.  A win in the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 would be extra special for Pitkat for not only being his first career NWMT victory, but to win a race that is sponsored by one of his personal weekly sponsors of nearly 10 years.

“A win in this race would be pretty big for me,” said Pitkat.  “I think next to wining the Spring Sizzler, which is The Greatest Race In The History Of Spring, this would be just as big for me.  TSI Harley-Davidson has been with me since the time I was driving for Dave and Tim Rowe.  It would definitely be bittersweet to get my first win in the TSI Harley-Davidson 125.  It would also be great for me to win at my home track in front of the fans who have seen me grow up and have supported me at the track.  With all the memories I have from back in the day between Dave and Tim Rowe and TSI Harley-Davidson, it would be a pretty cool feeling to win this race and it would be a party weekend for sure.  I’m happy with how I’ve been running.  I wanted to prove to everyone and to myself that I could qualify up front, run up front, and contend for wins and that’s what we’ve done.  There’s no reason why we can’t think we’re going to this next race and we’re going to win it.  It’s not going to be easy with guys like Bobby Santos, Doug Coby, Ryan Preece, or any of those guys who run well at Stafford.  With as much confidence as I have right now, combined with how well the cars are prepared and the people I have backing me, I think we have a good chance.”

In his NASCAR Whelen All-American Series career at Stafford, Pitkat has won an SK Modified® championship and 2 Late Model championships, so he knows what it takes to be a champion at the end of a racing season.  Pitkat, Justin Bonsignore, and Doug Coby are the only drivers to score a top-5 finish in each of the first 2 NWMT races during the 2014 season and he is currently tied with Coby for second in the points standings, only 2 points behind Bonsignore.  As good as Pitkat has been in the first two races, he says it’s still too early on to start thinking about points and the run for the championship.

“There’s still a long way to go to even start thinking or worrying about the championship,” said Pitkat.  “I think if we can keep on doing what we’ve been doing, try to make the car better, and click off these solid finishes, the points will add up at the end of the year.  My biggest goal right now is to win my first race.  Hopefully like everyone says once you get the first one the rest will come a little easier.  It would be nice to get that first win and then maybe a couple more wins and then start worrying about points at the end of August or beginning of September.”
