Geoff Boisjolie Enjoying Life at the Front of the SK Light Modified Pack at Stafford Motor Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT)—In only his second season of racing competition in any class at any track, East Hampton, MA native Geoff Boisjolie has come out of the box blazing in Stafford’s SK Light Modified division.  After recording 4 top-10 finishes as a rookie last season, Boisjolie drove his #3 Industrial Handling Systems Chevrolet a career best second place finish in the season opening NAPA Spring Sizzler and followed that run up with a 6thplace effort to sit in second place in the SK Light points standings.  Boisjolie has already equaled half of his top-10 total from last year and he is looking forward to keeping his forward momentum for the remainder of 2014.

“I think the biggest difference between last year and this year has been my confidence,” said Boisjolie.  “Last year, I wasn’t 100% comfortable in the car.  I was definitely getting there towards the end of the season, but I wasn’t at 100% where now with the car as good as it is, I can put it anywhere and have confidence that it’s going to stick.  Running great like we have has been a huge confidence boost for me.  There isn’t a doubt in my mind that we can’t be a front running contender all year long.”

Boisjolie began the team with his father Ron in the middle of the 2012 season to fulfill his father’s dream of going racing.  Boisjolie’s father passed away in April 2013, just before the season was set to get started and Geoff took over the driving duties with zero experience.  With his good start to the 2014 season. Boisjolie thinks he is closing in on his first win and he says that a victory would mean everything to him personally.

“With how we’ve been going I’m really hoping we can get that first win,” said Boisjolie.  “To win a race would be amazing.  If it wasn’t for my father, I would never be doing this.  Starting from nothing with no experience under my belt, it would be really huge to pull something like that off.  I never drove a legend car, a go kart, or anything.  We thought we’d come out of the box fast, but not as fast as we have so far.  We’re hoping we can get a few wins and be a contender up front every week.  Having fun is our biggest thing, the day we’re not smiling is the day the car goes up for sale.”

In addition to Boisjolie growing his confidence behind the wheel of the car, he has been getting help from both Mike Paquette from CD Chassis and Stash Butova as well as watching GoPro videos both from his in car camera as well as fellow competitors on YouTube.

“We had a lot of work done on the car with Mike Paquette over the winter and it’s helped us tremendously,” said Boisjolie.  “Jerrett, who is my crew chief, has been phenomenal, I can’t say enough good things about him.  He’s at the shop every night working hard to get the car out there and he’s been learning a lot from Stash Butova because he had never worked on a car before.  Having someone like Jerrett to soak up all the knowledge from Stash has really helped me out because I don’t have to worry about anything, I just drive the car.  A big thing for me was gaining confidence but I think the biggest thing I’ve learned is the line to take around the track.  I looked at all of my races from my GoPro last year and I could see I didn’t know what I was doing.  When I watched Tony Membrino’s GoPro footage on YouTube, I could see the line he was running and just how fast he was getting around the track.  It’s a huge help to have a GoPro in the car.  You come off the track and you don’t remember what you were doing.  Being able to watch and study the footage has been a big help in my learning process.”

Boisjolie hopes to continue the upward trend in his learning curve, and if the beginning of the 2014 season is any indication, his first victory may just be right around the corner.
