QUALIFYING: Record Run For Rhodes
Set Series’ Track Record In Bowman Gray Time Trials
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Ben Rhodes took down his fourth 21 Means 21 Pole Award by Coors Brewing in seven NASCAR K&N Pro Series East events this season in qualifying for tonight’s NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 at Bowman Gray Stadium.
In his first appearance at the legendary quarter-mile, Rhodes posted a fast lap of 14.382 seconds (62.578 mph) to earn the all-important pole position. The Louisville, Kentucky native’s lap bested the series’ previous track record of 14.471 (62.193) established by Brett Moffitt a year ago.
Rhodes’ qualifying effort backed up his performance earlier in the day at The Stadium when he also paced the K&N Pro Series East field in the practice session. He entered the day with two wins on the season and the championship points lead.
Turner Scott Motorsports swept the front row for tonight’s NASCAR Hall of Fame 150. Rhodes’ teammate, Scott Heckert, took the outside pole with a fast lap of 14.503 (62.056). Gray Gaulding qualified third at 14.643 (61.463).
Ronnie Bassett Jr., Jay Beasley, Nick Drake, Kaz Grala, Sergio Pena, Kenzie Ruston and Brennan Newberry rounded out the top 10 qualifiers.
The NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 is slated for green flag tonight at 9 p.m.
