PRACTICE: Preece Heating Up at Riverhead
Tops Hoosier Tire 200 Practice Session
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – Ryan Preece led the way in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice Saturday afternoon in preparation for the Hoosier Tire 200 at Riverhead Raceway.
Preece toured the .25-mile oval on New York’s Long Island with a fast lap of 11.982 seconds (75.113 mph), recorded late in the 90-minute afternoon session.
Winner of three consecutive Modified Tour wins at Riverhead, Preece will look for his fourth consecutive and fifth out of nine career starts this evening. He has an average finish of 3.1 at the track.

2012 champion Doug Coby was second on the board at 12.033 (74.794) followed by Todd Szegedy (74.683), Tom Rogers Jr. (74.664) and Ron Silk (74.590).
Matt Hirschman, Frank Vigliarolo, Eric Goodale, Timmy Solomito and Tommy Barrett Jr. rounded out the 10 fastest cars of the 30 entered.
Coors Light Pole qualifying is slated for 5:30 p.m. ET, with the Hoosier Tire 200 set for a green flag at approximately 8 p.m.
