Westboro Driver Jim Ryan Passes at 70
BOURNE ”’ James “Jim” Edward Ryan, 70, died Friday, August 8, 2014 as a result of declining health over the last several years.
He leaves his loving wife, Carol Ryan; his son, Shawn Ryan and his wife, Tara; his daughter, Amy Sanborn and her husband, Geordie; his stepson Johnny Pomfred Jr.; his stepdaughter Lori Dewar and her husband, Jamie; along with nine grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son, Timothy James Ryan who passed away in 2013. He will be missed as a husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Jim was born and raised in Northborough, son of the late Edward and Agnes Ryan and has since lived in Bourne for almost 20 years with his wife Carol.
Jim’s best times were spent with his wife, his children and grandchildren, and his German Shepard “Brandy”. He enjoyed boating on the “Amy Lou” while fishing for Striper and Bluefish. He was an avid race car driver, known for his purple #36 that he wore throughout the 60’s & 70’s. He was proud to be the 1969 Grand Slam Champion at Westboro Speedway.
A true Irishman with a great sense of humor, Jim loved to meet up with his buddies at the Trading Post to tell stories and brag about his children and grandchildren. Prior to his retirement Jim worked for Avery Dennison in Milford for 40+ years.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 13, from 4-7pm in Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne, MA. Jim will be buried at Oakland Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association.
