The 44th Annual Freedom 76 and Much More is Just Around the Corner at Grandview

Midgets and Sportsman stocks on Friday, $25,000 to win Freedom 76 on Saturday

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 10, 2014 . . . The excitement is building as fans and racers get ready for the granddaddy of Modified stock car classics which is set to take place this weekend at Grandview Speedway.

On Saturday (September 13) the 44th annual Freedom 76, offering $25,000 to the winner, will feature many of the top performers in dirt track stock car racing. Action will get underway at 7 p.m. with qualifying events with the top performers moving on to the 76-lap Classic on the one-third-mile, banked clay speedway. Also included in the night is the Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20 offering the last opportunity to qualify for the big race and the Cash Dash which will see a selection of top performers race for $1000 to win in a 10-lapper.

The winner of the Freedom 76 will pick up a guaranteed starting spot in the American Race Cup Modified race at Five Mile Point Speedway on October 11.

Rick Laubach and Keith Hoffman (driving for Norm Hansell), two standout Modified performers, are the latest to announce that they will be competing and join such top talents as Billy Pauch Sr. and Jr., Ryan Godown, guaranteed starter Danny Johnson, recently crowned Grandview champion, for the tenth time, Jeff Strunk, American Racer Cup champion Duane Howard, New York standout Mike Mahaney, Keith Hoffman, Ryan Watt, Craig VonDohren, Doug Manmiller, 3-time Sportsman champion Jared Umbenhauer and a host of others. Last year’s race attracted more than 70 entries.

For the first time a Friday night doubleheader has been added and will feature the Race of Champions Sportsman stock cars racing in “The 38er” with $1,500 going to the winner along with a guaranteed starting spot in the American Racer Cup Sportsman event at Five Mile Point Speedway on October 10. The American Racing Drivers wingless Midgets will also be in action with a 25-lap feature topping their part of the show.

Spectator gates will open at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and at the same time a Low Down and Dirty Meet & Greet will feature Sportsman racers Joe Funk, Mikey Butler and Brad Grim along with ARDC Midget racers Tim and Bruce Buckwalter.

Adult admission is just $12 while youngsters 6 through 12 pay $5. Kids under 6 are admitted free and pit admission is $30. Advance tickets for the Freedom 76 will be on sale up until intermission.

There is no rain date in place for the Friday night doubleheader. Fans attending the Friday night events and plan to be back for the Freedom 76 are asked to remove blankets or other coverings from their seats.

Then on Saturday advance ticket holders will be admitted at 3 p.m. while ticket windows will open at 3:30 p.m. Fans are reminded that Grandview Speedway season ticketholders are entitled to sit in their numbered seats for the Saturday events. Adult admission is $35 while youngsters 6 through 12 pay just $10 and kids under 6 are admitted free. Pit admission, with no license required, will cost $45.

Warm-ups for the events leading up to the 44th annual Freedom 76 will get started at approximately 6 p.m. while actual racing will get the green flag at 7 p.m.

There is a Saturday, September 20th rain date in place and the schedule would remain the same.

Camping is allowed on the speedway grounds. Campers should be self-contained since there are no hookups available. No block parking for campers is permitted and areas cannot be roped off for safety reasons. No open fires are permitted and there is no burning of pallets. Camping and parking on speedway grounds is free while space is available. There is space available in areas surrounding the speedway but there will be fees.
