Rain Again Stalls Speedway 95 Racing Program
HERMON, ME — For the second week in a row, rain forced cancellation of the Saturday night racing show at Speedway 95. Not to be outdone by mother nature, the Stock Enduro class, made up of cars pretty much off the street, ran qualifying races and a 20 lap feature in the rain before the remainder of the night’s racing was cancelled. Jordan Harnish of Veazie picked up his career first feature win after winning the regular season championship in the new for 2014 division when the Wednesday night racing program ended in August. Harnish took the lead from Joshua Gerry of Burnham of the 11th lap, and led to the checkers. Gerry finished second with Sean MacNevin of Hudson in third. Fred Richards of Hermon slipped and slid his way to a fourth place finish, with Sean Davis of Bangor finishing fifth.
Racing will resume at Speedway 95 on Saturday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m. when the 35 lap Pine Tree Waste series race #3 for the Pepsi Beverage Company Strictly Streets and the 3rd race in the Coca-Cola Sport-Four Series will be run. After 2 races in the 3 race series have been run, Alex Berry of Harrington leads Jordan Pearson of Glenburn by 4 points in the Strictly Street division, and in the Sport-Fours, Jason and Brad Bosworth, brothers from Cornville, are tied for the points lead after two of the three races in the series have been run. Both were on hand Saturday night to contend for the title, and should be back next week for the showdown. Other racing on the schedule for Saturday, September 20th includes the Dysart’s Late Models, Darling’s Ford Sportsman and the Modified and Stock Enduro classes.
