The Battle of New York vs. Penna. Stock Car Racers to Take Place in $25,000 to Win 44th Annual Freedom 76 Modified Stock Car Racing Classic at Grandview Speedway Saturday

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 18, 2014 . . . It could be one of the truly great battles. The 44th Annual Freedom 76 Modified Stock Car racing classic is set for Saturday, September 20, 7 p.m. Pitting the very best of Pennsylvania dirt track racers against many of the best New York dirt track racers it could be considered nothing short of a stock car racing war.

Almost as important as the $25,000 first prize money will be the prestige of winning the granddaddy of major league modified classic. So many great names have won the event and many great names have tried and fallen short.

On Saturday the war will feature such soldiers as Pennsylvanians Jeff Strunk, Craig VonDohren, Duane Howard, Doug Manmiller, Meme DeSantis, Mike Gular, Ray Swinehart, Rick Laubach, Ryan Watt, Kevin Hartnett, Kevin Hirthler, Tim Buckwalter, Terry Meitzler, Jon Kellner and others going up against the New York contingent which includes Danny Johnson, Stewart Friesen, Matt Sheppard, Mike Mahaney, Anthony Perrego, Jerry Higbie, Andy Bachetti and who knows who else. There are sure to be others showing up to be part of the battle. Second place pays $10,000 so that is certainly worth going to battle over.

The combat starts at 7 p.m. with qualifying races followed by consolation races and the Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20 that will decide which soldiers actually make it to the big battle, the Freedom 76. There is a $1000 to win Cash Dash that will feature top performers from the qualifying events in a 10-lapper. And, after all the battles, it will be many of the best talents in the sport going to battle in the 44th Annual Freedom 76 Modified Classic with close to $60,000 in prize money at stake along with added perks and lap money. The team with the best strategy throughout the night goes home quite a bit richer.

Again on September 20 the tech inspection will get underway at 9 a.m. as the pit gates are opened. Spectator gates will open at 3 p.m. for advance ticket holders while the ticket windows will be open at 3:30 p.m. Racing will get the green flag at 7 p.m.

Adult admission is $35, while youngsters 6 through 12 pay $10 and kids under 6 are admitted free. Pit admission, no track or organization license required, is priced at $45. There is a Saturday, September 27th rain date in place, just in case.

Many of the top names in dirt track Modified stock car racing were on hand for the rained out show and most are scheduled to return and with some schedule changes brought about by the rain there could very well be some additional well-known names showing up to participate as has already happened with the entries that have been announced.

Fans are reminded that using markers of any type to hold spots in the ticket lines will not be permitted. It will be first come first served basis on ticket sales though those who have purchased advance tickets will be allowed to enter the speedway at 3 p.m. again on the first come, first served basis.

Fans are also reminded that there is camping space available both on and off speedway property along with ample parking, some with a fee, available.
