PRACTICE: Santos Fast in Sweep Bid
Led F.W. Webb 100 Final Practice At New Hampshire
LOUDON, N.H. – Only six drivers in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour history have pulled off a season sweep of events at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Bobby Santos is looking to change that.
Santos, from Franklin, Massachusetts, posted a fast lap of 29.006 seconds (131.311 mph) in Friday’s final session to lead all entrants for Saturday’s F.W. Webb 100.
A victor at NHMS in July, Santos will look to become the first driver to pull off the Loudon season sweep since Ryan Newman in 2010.
Woody Pitkat finished second on the speed chart in final practice at 29.067 (131.035) followed by Donny Lia at 29.077 (130.990).
Rookie Timmy Solomito led first practice Friday morning at 29.223 (130.336) followed by Ron Silk at 29.306 (129.967) and defending race winner Todd Szegedy at 29.320 (129.905).
Season points leader Doug Coby ranked 12th in the first session at 29.580 (128.763), and eighth in the final round at 29.112 (130.883).
Coors Light Pole qualifying for the F.W. Webb 100 is slated for today at 5:30 p.m., and the green flag will drop Saturday at approximately 3:30 p.m.
