Sportsman Veteran Ron Casey Files First “Battle at the Bowl” Entry

Manchester Center driver ready for three-race dirt track series

WEST HAVEN, VT – Ron Casey has filed the first official entry for the three-race “Battle at the Bowl” dirt track stock car racing series at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Underfunded but running strong, the dirt racing veteran from Manchester Center, VT will compete in the Sportsman Modified division at what he considers his home track.

“I can’t wait to get back on the dirt at Devil’s Bowl,” Casey said. “That’s home for me.”

Casey has been turning wrenches on racecars for more than three decades, but started driving his own car on a shoestring budget eight years ago. The likeable Casey – who has a tongue-in-cheek decal on his car that reads “My Kids’ Inheritance” – said that he would gladly welcome a few sponsors to join Red Line Auto, Innovative Speed & Graphics, and his own Casey’s Property Maintenance on the No. 20 Teo Pro Car for the Battle at the Bowl series.

“It’s just me, myself, and I paying the bills,” Casey said. What he lacks in finances he makes up for in style; he took his first victory at Albany-Saratoga (NY) Speedway in the Limited Sportsman class last month. “The car may not look that great, but it’s running fast lately. We’ll have some fun.”

The three-race “Battle at the Bowl” series opens on Friday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. with the “Slate Valley Showdown” – a $1,000-to-win, 50-lap race for Sportsman Modifieds, plus Pro Stocks, Renegades, and Mini Stocks. The “King of the Clay” event is on Saturday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. and features a 50-lap, $5,000-to-win Big Block/Small Block Modified race, Sportsman Modifieds, Renegades, Mini Stocks, and a 50-lap Enduro race.

The series wraps up on Saturday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. with a 100-lap, $2,000-to-win Sportsman Modified race, a $1,000-to-win Sprint Cars of New England race, and Sportsman Coupes, Renegades, and Mini Stocks. Fans can submit suggestions in the “You Name The Race!” contest at www.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com to have a chance to win tickets to the finale.
