$5,000 to Win DAV Fall Classic Pro Stock Open Set to Close Out Seekonk Speedway’s 69th Season
Seekonk, MA — On Friday and Saturday, October fourth and fifth, Seekonk Speedway will close out the 2014 racing season with the annual DAV Fall Classic. Headlining the weekend’s events will be the 100 lap Open Competition Pro Stock finale, with $5,000 going to the winner, with $350 to take the green.
In addition to the 5k to win, there is lap money available for the leaders of each of the 100 green flag laps, meaning the winner of the final race of the season could potentially pocket over $7,500 if they lead all the laps.
Over the past several years, the century grind has seen both regular Seekonk runners and outside competitors take down the winner’s purse, including Tom Scully Jr, Derek Ramstrom, Dave Darling, Russ Hersey and Fred Astle Jr.
Also on the card will be open competition 50 lap main event for the Late Models with $1,500 going to the winner, as well as lap money. Former winners for this event include ACT standout Ray Parent, 7 time Late Model champion Gerry DeGasparre Jr, and Ryan Vanasse.
The Sims Street Stocks will compete in an open competition main event as well as the Sport Trucks/Mini Stock division, in twin 25 lap finales.
The Pro4 Modifieds have been added to the schedule, and this will mark there first event at the famed 1/3 mile oval this season. Their 25 lap main event will be the final event of the race season for Seekonk Speedway.
On Friday night, Seekonk’s Fast Friday divisions will celebrate their DAV Fall Classic. Headlining the night will be the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends and Pure Stocks, both competing in 25 lap features. The Sport4’s and the Seekonk Youth Racing Association 600 and 750 divisions will also celebrate their final races of the season.
Activities will start on Friday, October 4th, with an open practice for all 9 divisions that will be competing that weekend. The pits will open at 9am, with practice going from 10am until 4pm. At that time, the focus will turn to the Fast Friday schedule, with the first green flag flying at 6pm.
On Saturday, pits open at 8am, while spectator gates open at 11am. Qualifying for all 5 classes will begin at 1pm. Camping for the weekend is welcome, starting on Friday. Front gate admission for Fast Friday is only $7 for adults; while Saturday’s general admission is $20.00 for adults. As always, kids 12 and under are free.
