Racers Readying for Battle at the Bowl Dirt Track Series

Sponsors, entries, volunteers flying in as Friday opener approaches

WEST HAVEN, VT – The stock car racing community is abuzz with the highly anticipated three-race “Battle at the Bowl” series and the grand opening of a new one-third-mile dirt track at Vermont’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway.  The “LawPower.com Slate Valley Showdown” event on Friday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. will kick off a new dual-track era for the Rutland County facility.

Interstate All Battery Center of Rutland, VT has upped its support of Devil’s Bowl Speedway, building further on a multi-year partnership.  Interstate All Battery Center – sponsor of the ultra-popular “Fun Bus” tour at the speedway – is conveniently located at 71 River Street in Downtown Rutland.

Other local businesses pledging support include Fabian Earthmoving of West Rutland, VT, G. Stone Commercial of Middlebury, VT, Rouse Tire of Middlebury, VT, Carrara Masonry & Concrete of North Clarendon, VT, and Brown’s Quarried Slate of Castleton, VT.  A swarm of volunteers and workers have also flocked to the speedway to create the new track in the infield of the existing asphalt half-mile oval.

Sportsman Modifieds, eight-cylinder Renegades, and four-cylinder Mini Stocks will each compete for a three-race championship point fund.  A sampling of Sportsman Modified drivers who have filed full series entries include Johnny Scarborough, Frank Hoard, Jr., Jack Gentile, Jack Swinton, Chris Murray, Jim Morgan, Matt Atwood, Ron Casey, and Cody Hunt.

The LawPower.com Slate Valley Showdown is Friday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. and will also have a special $500-to-win Pro Stock race on the card.  The “King of the Clay” event is on Saturday, October 4 at an earlier 4:00 p.m. start and features a 50-lap, $5,000-to-win Big Block/Small Block Modified race and a 50-lap Enduro.  The series wraps up on Saturday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. with a Sportsman Modified 100, the Sprint Cars of New England, Sportsman Coupes, Renegades, and Mini Stocks.
