QUALIFYING: Preece Sets the Pace
NASCAR Next Driver Wins Second Straight Pole At Charlotte
CONCORD, N.C. – Starting up front is getting to be the norm for Ryan Preece when he makes a start in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.
Preece won his second consecutive Coors Light Pole Award at Charlotte Motor Speedway during qualifying for the Southern Slam 150 in record-setting fashion with a fast lap of 14.612 seconds (61.593 mph).
Preece, a member of the NASCAR Next program, has now started in the top spot in six consecutive starts in the southern tour.
George Brunnhoelzl III followed closely in second at 14.686 seconds (61.283) to also eclipsed his previous track record time.
Burt Myers (14.698/61.233) followed in third with Cole Powell (14.730/61.100) and championship points leader Andy Seuss (14.746/61.034) finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Zach Brewer, making his first start of the season in a team car with Seuss, was sixth with Kyle Ebersole, Luke Fleming, J.R. Bertuccio and Bobby Measmer Jr. rounding out the top 10.
The Southern Slam 150 is the season finale for the tour and is scheduled to begin at approximately 8:40 p.m.
